SM Malls in East Metro Manila, together with SM Cares, transformed Earth Hour on March 28 into a vibrant celebration of sustainability and community through Project Neon — a series of high-energy, neon-themed events that proved going green can be exciting, inclusive, and deeply meaningful.
Hundreds of participants across four SM malls showed up glowing in neon to rally behind a shared commitment to the planet.

A Different Kind of Earth Hour
Rather than simply switching off the lights, SM Malls channeled the spirit of Earth Hour into movement, connection, and community action:
- SM City San Mateo hosted Neon Pedal, a neon-lit unity ride that took cyclists through the streets of San Mateo.
- SM City Marikina launched Neon Run, a 3KM fun run held along the mall’s driveway, lighting up the night with every stride.
- SM City Masinag turned up the energy with Neon Move, a Zumba fitness gala where dancers lit up the floor in full neon flair.
- SM Center Antipolo Downtown served up Neon Paddle, bringing pickleball and badminton players together for glowing, high-spirited matches.

Sustainability That Shines
Project Neon reinforced SM Malls and SM Cares’ ongoing commitment to environmental advocacy — demonstrating that collective action, even in the dark, has the power to shine brightest. By weaving sustainability into fun, accessible activities, the initiative invited communities to protect the planet one movement and one shared experience at a time.
