Since the start of the pandemic, Procter & Gamble Philippines’ (P&G) Force For Good program has focused on protecting the frontliners in hospitals, local government units, and government agencies who protect the country and help in recovery efforts. P&G was the first company to repurpose their manufacturing plant to have a medical grade face mask production line at the start of the pandemic and has since donated over 3 million face masks to help protect medical, healthcare and government frontliners. The company also previously provided PPE suits and health and hygiene products like Safeguard soap, Head & Shoulders, Tide and Ariel.

With the fast local transmission of the Delta variant, the company has again stepped up to help protect and support hospitals and frontliners who are again faced with a rising number of COVID patients.

Coinciding with PGH’s 114th founding anniversary, P&G donated 4,000 PPE suits and its newest healthcare product innovation, Vicks First Defence, to PGH to help protect frontliners in one of the hospitals that receives the most severe cases in Metro Manila. Vicks First Defence is a nasal spray product for early intervention of the common cold.

On top of Vicks First Defence and hygiene kits worth over two million pesos, P&G also recently turned over to PGH Foundation funding to help construct urgently needed decontamination showers in PGH’s Emergency Room Complex and sewer ejection system for their OB-Emergency Room Complex which is now being used as an interim COVID-19 ER.

“On behalf of all the hard-working medical frontliners in PGH, we would like to express our gratitude to P&G as these donations continue to support our healthcare workers,” PGH Director, Dr. Gerardo Gap D. Legaspi said in the virtual turnover of the donation. “This couldn’t have come at a better time as we dedicate our anniversary celebration this year to PGH and our frontliners for their commendable service,” he added.

Since the pandemic started, PGH’s initial 220 beds for the most severe COVID cases have been doubled close to 320 beds as the hospital dedicates more healthcare workers from other departments and non-COVID cases to support the increased cases.

“P&G’s primary mission is to help protect the health of frontliners, families, and communities with our health and hygiene products. With the heightened priority to protect health, we are committed to continuously find solutions that help protect our frontliners whether it be masks, hygiene products or our new Vicks First Defence. Our frontliners who work tirelessly deserve the utmost protection,” said Raffy Fajardo, President and General Manager of P&G Philippines.
