Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, so the barkada (group of friends) does not have to choose between a party and a trip. Undas follows on Sunday and Monday, November 1 and 2, when many families visit and remember loved ones.
Airbnb says searches for Halloween weekend grew year over year in three places: Balabag in Boracay, Aklan; Barangay 76 in Pasay City, Metro Manila; and the City of Lapu-Lapu in Cebu. That is an island, a city neighborhood, and a coastal city, so people are not all planning the same kind of trip. The announcement did not include the percentages.

Trade the party for the pines
If you want a quieter Halloween, look to the probinsya (province), where the dark settles in early and the trees make most of the noise.
