Bird enthusiasts and nature lovers are in for a treat as young photographer Vinz Pascua unveils Birds of Subic Bay, a groundbreaking book that captures the breathtaking diversity of bird species in one of the Philippines’ top birding destinations.
Birds of Subic Bay showcases 101 bird species thriving in this iconic Philippine birding destination, from elusive Philippine endemics to seasonal migrants and local residents.
Each species is beautifully captured through vibrant, high-resolution photographs, bringing their unique charm to life. Complementing the visuals, the book provides fascinating insights into each bird’s characteristics and highlights the top birding hotspots in Subic Bay.
This work is also a heartfelt tribute to the Ayta Ambala people, the original stewards of Subic Bay’s birds and forests. Each bird species is paired with its Ayta Ambala name, celebrating the rich native language and culture of this Indigenous community.
At just 22 years old, Vinz Pascua blends his extraordinary skill in bird photography and graphic design to create this masterpiece—a first-of-its-kind book that captures the diversity and beauty of Subic Bay’s birdlife. As he nears his college graduation, Vinz invites readers to join him in appreciating the wonders of Philippine biodiversity.
