Mega Prime Foods, Inc., maker of Mega Sardines, the country’s leading sardine brand and the world’s first “superfood” endorsed by the Medical Wellness Association, has kicked off National Sardines Month 2025 with a series of community outreach activities and a tribute to Filipino fishermen nationwide.
The month-long celebration, which began on November 5, underscores Mega Prime Foods’ continued commitment to uplifting communities, promoting nutrition, and honoring the hardworking fishermen behind every can of Mega Sardines.
Ka-Mega Community Outreach: Bringing Families Together
The festivities opened at the Malabon Sports Center in Malabon City and will continue on November 13 at Star Arena, Baliuag, Bulacan, and conclude on November 29 at the Danao Civic Center in Cebu.
Each event aims to strengthen community ties through cooking demonstrations featuring easy and nutritious Mega Sardines recipes, interactive family games, and gift-giving activities to support local residents. These gatherings highlight the brand’s belief that good food and shared moments help build stronger families and communities.
Honoring the Heroes of the Sea
A key highlight of the celebration is the Heroes’ Welcome on November 18 in Zamboanga, a long-standing Mega Prime Foods tradition marking the end of the fishing season. The ceremony honors the company’s fishermen—recognized as “Ka-Mega Heroes”—whose dedication ensures the brand’s trademark freshness and quality through its 12-hour catch-to-can process.
The event will include recognition rites for outstanding fishermen, a salu-salo celebrating camaraderie and bayanihan, and messages of gratitude from Mega Prime Foods executives.
