In celebration of National Arts Month, SM City San Mateo has opened its doors to Likhang Mateo: A Homegrown Visual Exhibit, an all-out visual arts showcase organized by the Municipal Tourism Office of San Mateo.

The exhibit is aligned with the 2026 theme of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), “Ani ng Sining: Katotohanan at Giting,” which celebrates artistic truth, courage, and creative identity rooted in the community.
Featuring works by both veteran and emerging artists from San Mateo, Likhang Mateo highlights visual narratives inspired by local culture, lived experiences, and the municipality’s evolving creative landscape. The collection showcases a range of styles and subjects, reflecting the diverse perspectives of artists who call the town home.

Strategically mounted at the mall’s 2nd Level Activity Area, the exhibit allows visitors to engage with art within an accessible, everyday setting.
Mallgoers are invited to explore the works while going about their usual activities, making the appreciation of local art more inclusive and approachable for families, students, and the wider community.

By hosting initiatives such as Likhang Mateo, SM Supermalls continues to position its malls as venues not only for retail and leisure but also for cultural engagement and community gatherings.

The exhibit opening was attended by San Mateo Mayor Bartolome Rivera, Municipal Administrator Jose Enrique P. Desiderio, and other local officials. They were welcomed by SM City San Mateo Assistant Mall Manager Sigfred Tatom and Khristine Lenon, underscoring the shared commitment of the local government and SM Supermalls to bring arts and culture closer to residents.
Likhang Mateo: A Homegrown Visual Exhibit runs until February 26 at the 2nd Level Activity Area of SM City San Mateo. The public is invited to visit and support San Mateo’s homegrown artists in this celebration of creativity and community.
