Why printed photos and creativity still bring families closer together

Some of the best family time happens over a table, not a screen. A recent print workshop with photographer and visual storyteller Geloy Concepcion in Pasay City made the case that creativity is still one of the simplest ways parents and kids connect.

In a recent print workshop oganized by HP Philippines, families turned printed photos, stickers, and postcards into personalized keepsakes to promote creativity and bonding between parents and children through print.

The event, part of the back-to-school season, was led by visual artist and storyteller Geloy Concepcion, who guided participants through hands-on activities built around printed photos and personal storytelling.

Working side by side, parents and children used family images as raw material for their own keepsakes, treating each photo less as an object to preserve and more as a starting point for something new.

“We’re constantly creating memories, but so many of them stay inside our phones. Print gives us a chance to slow down, revisit those moments, and transform them into something we can see, hold, and share with the people around us. I hope today’s workshop reminds people that creativity doesn’t have to be complicated—it can begin with a photograph, a story, or even a simple piece of paper,” Concepcion said.

Organizers positioned the workshop as evidence that print still has a role to play in family life beyond schoolwork or office use.

“Print continues to have a meaningful place in our everyday lives—not only as a tool for productivity, but also as a way to support learning, encourage creativity, and preserve the moments that matter most,” said Ida Evina Ong-Co, Managing Director of HP Philippines.

Throughout the session, participants relied on the HP Smart Tank 580 to print family photos and creative materials, using the device as the practical thread connecting each activity, part of a broader effort to frame print as a companion to family life rather than a task confined to school or work.

The event closed with the INKredible Post Award, where participants shared their workshop experience on social media for a chance to win an HP Smart Tank 580 printer.
