The renowned International Floating Book Fair, Doulos Hope, has arrived in Manila after a successful visit to San Fernando, La Union.
Doulos Hope is now docked at 25th Street, Port Area, Manila from March 27 to April 14, following its two-week stay at San Fernando La Union International Seaport where it welcomed an impressive 48,000 visitors.
The recent visit to San Fernando, La Union, saw Doulos Hope bustling with activity as thousands flocked to the port to experience cultural exchange, educational initiatives, and humanitarian events.
Visitors were treated to an enriching experience aboard the floating book fair, browsing its extensive library of discounted books.
Book fair attendees also had the opportunity to engage with Doulos Hope’s international crew, who represent over 20 nationalities and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the ship’s operations.
Moreover, the Doulos Hope team were able to conduct missions in La Union, including a beach clean up and community outreaches, cultivating a rich cultural exchange.
Sailing across the world
Since their ships first set sail in 1970, over 49 million visitors have graced Doulos Hope’s onboard book fairs, representing approximately one person in every 170 of the world’s population.
Doulos Hope extends a warm invitation to visitors, offering a diverse selection of over 2,000 titles catering to readers of all ages and interests.
From science and medicine to dictionaries, languages, sports, hobbies, and more, their collection spans a wide array of categories, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
Generous contributions from publishers worldwide enable Doulos Hope to offer an extensive range of unsold books at significantly reduced prices, making literature more accessible to those with limited access.
Furthermore, during each port visit, special efforts are made to provide materials in the local language, supplementing the extensive selection of English books available.
In addition to their book sales, Doulos Hope is committed to promoting literacy through various initiatives, including the donation of textbooks and reference volumes to individuals, schools, universities, libraries, and community groups.
